Dark Phoenix could be Disney’s first X-Men film

Disney’s merger with 20th Century Fox is getting closer and closer, and superhero fans have been wondering about the future where the MCU and X-Men universes both live under one roof.

The first step towards the union of Avengers and mutants may be underway, with The Hollywood Reporter claiming that X-Men: Dark Phoenix could be the first Fox-Marvel movie to be released by Disney. Dark Phoenix was recently delayed from February to June, a date – as the report observes – that won’t clash with any upcoming Disney releases.

In DARK PHOENIX, the X-MEN face their most formidable and powerful foe: one of their own, Jean Grey. During a rescue mission in space, Jean is nearly killed when she is hit by a mysterious cosmic force. Once she returns home, this force not only makes her infinitely more powerful, but far more unstable. Wrestling with this entity inside her, Jean unleashes her powers in ways she can neither comprehend nor contain. With Jean spiraling out of control, and hurting the ones she loves most, she begins to unravel the very fabric that holds the X-Men together. Now, with this family falling apart, they must find a way to unite — not only to save Jean’s soul, but to save our very planet from aliens who wish to weaponize this force and rule the galaxy.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix will be released on June 7, 2019.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix will rise a little later than anticipated. 20th Century Fox release dates have been reshuffled, pushing back the release of X-Men properties Dark Phoenix and The New Mutants.

In the place of X-Men: Dark Phoenix‘s November 2018 release date will be the Freddie Mercury biopic Bohemian Rhapsody.

Fox pushed back the theatrical release dates of three of its upcoming major releases, Deadline reported late Monday night.

Dark Phoenix will now open on February 14, 2019

First Look of “X-Men: Dark Phoenix”

X-Men: Dark Phoenix is featured at the annual Entertainment Weekly first look issue. With all the new pictures, we have the first still featuring James as Charles.

The X-Men Reunite… For A Funeral?

Dark Phoenix is, well, dark as evidenced by this photo of Charles (James McAvoy), Nightcrawler (Kodi Smit-McPhee), Cyclops (Tye Sheridan) and Storm (Alexandra Shipp) mourning something or somebody. “I would call Dark Phoenix a drama,” says Lawrence. “We have really great action scenes and we go to space like within the first five minutes of the movie. So it’s definitely exciting but emotionally all these characters are taking the biggest, most extreme dives than they have in the whole series.”

Dark Phoenix will arrive in theaters on Nov. 2, 2018. Come back tomorrow for scans of the EW issue!
