What are the best medium size parakeet cages?

Just like any other animals that be kept in the enclosure, parakeet also must be provided with the proper and optimal care to live a happy, healthy life. The best parakeet cage is the place that they live out their life in and it is recommended to give them the cage that as large as possible.

However, in practice the huge cage is not always good for all the cages. If you just want to house a single parakeet or you do not have enough room for the large cage or even if you are in the budget, it is better to get the medium size parakeet cages. Due to these reasons, medium size cages are also the most common type of cage among parakeet owners.

Chew or gnawing toys help improve hamster mental stimulation in your little furry friend, provide relief from boredom and more important, chewing toy keep their teeth filed down as your hamster is prone to developing overgrown teeth.

It is a necessary investment to purchase on chew toys for your pet because it not just helps in making it happy but also keeping its teeth healthy. But first, you should know about different type of best hamster chews available in the market.

#1 Hamster wooden chew toys

Although wooden hamster chew toys can post potential ricks if you do not choose the right one, this is the most common type of chew toy for hamster. When hamster chew on it, they also wear down their teeth naturally, and tasty things to gnaw on also keep your pets happy and be entertained.

You just need to ensure wooden hamster toys are unpainted, untreated, do not treated with pesticides or chemicals. Avoid woods that contain oils that can cause respiratory upset in hamsters, such as cedar. Also avoid toys that are made in China

Hamster chew sticks are ideal for frugal pet owners as they are low cost, and come in bundles, making them one of the easiest solutions for providing your hamster with something safe on which to gnaw. These chews are good for your wallet, and your hamster’s dental health. You should provide hamster chew sticks that are made of apple or pear wood. Hamsters need to gnaw on something tough and durable.

#3 Mineral chews

You can add mineral in the hamster’s diet by switching out wooden chew toys with mineral ones. Mineral chews toys not only help to wear down hamster teeth but also add nutrition that they need into their diet.

However, it can help keep hamster teeth in good condition but they are very hard and many hamsters won’t use them.

Can a chameleon live in a glass tank?

Providing the best chameleon cage not only ensure the optimal health for your pet but also gives you great opportunity to create a focal point and a decoration for your house. However, not all the available cages are really suitable for chameleons.

Many pet owners have successfully kept their chameleon in a glass enclosure. But personally, I do not recommend glass tank for chameleons. This is because glass cages for a chameleon can create many problems.

#1 Ventilation

One of the biggest problem of glass tank that will kill your chameleon in the early days was poor ventilation. The glass tank may do the great job to maintain high humidity that mimic the natural conditions in the wild. But chameleons do not really need it.

Chameleons and many others need good ventilation. Poor ventilation will lead to respiratory problems. Glass cages may lack of vent holes and are difficult to ventilate properly. However, if you prefer to use glass tank, you can look for the glass units have a vented front-door ventilation system or an aquarium with a screen cover.

#2 Lime scale

If you want to increase the humidity levels in your chameleon cages, you will spray your chameleon sufficiently, and you are likely to end up with lime scale on the glass. The lime scale is the nasty white crust that builds up quickly in the glass wall from hard water but can result from anything except distilled. It can make your glass unattractive and also hard to remove.

#3 Reflection

The advantage of glass tank is that it offers better opportunities to get a clearer view of your chameleon inside its habitat. However, the drawback is glass will reflect an image of the chameleon back into the cage. And you need to know that chameleons use their ability to change colors.

Due to this, the reflection of glass may make your chameleons think that there is an intruder in their cage and they will use a variety of display stances and colours to scare of the intruder away from their territory. This may cause they get stress.

You also can place the cage and lights in ways to minimise the reflection but if it’s not done well, it will have bad effects on chameleon’s health. A few species are not anti-social but Veiled and Panther chameleons will not be happy.

#4 Poor drainage

It is a big chance that the glass tank you choose have glass bases and are sealed around the base. If you need to spray your chameleon cage several times a day to provide it proper humidity, the bottom of the cage will be deep in water. It is a risk of cracking the base when you try to make holes on it.
